Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 August 2026
This policy explains what Voltwell Systems B.V. (“Voltwell”, “we”) collects when you use our website and operations console, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and specific — energy operators have enough vague documents to read.
Contents
1. Who we are
Voltwell Systems B.V. is a company registered in the Netherlands (KvK 89-441-207), with offices in Rotterdam and Denver. For customers in the EEA and UK, Voltwell acts as a data processor for the operational telemetry you send us, and as a data controller for the account and website data described below.
2. What we collect
- Account data — the name, work email and company you provide when you request access or are invited to a workspace, plus role assignments and audit records of significant actions.
- Usage data — pages viewed, features used and coarse device information, so we can keep the console fast and reliable. We do not build advertising profiles.
- Support data — anything you send us in a support conversation.
Our marketing site uses two first-party cookies: one to keep you signed in, and one to count page loads. We do not embed third-party trackers, advertising pixels or social widgets, which is why nothing on this site makes an external request.
3. Your telemetry
The measurements Voltwell ingests from your sites — power, voltage, state of charge, alarms and the like — belong to you. We process it solely to provide the service to your workspace. We do not sell it, we do not use it to train models sold to third parties, and we do not share one customer's telemetry with another. On Enterprise deployments this data can remain entirely within your own cloud boundary.
4. How we use data
- To provide, secure and improve the console and ingest pipeline.
- To notify you about alarms, service status and account matters.
- To respond to support requests and prevent abuse.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
5. Legal bases
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on performance of a contract to run your workspace, legitimate interests to secure and improve the service, and consent for any optional communications, which you can withdraw at any time.
6. Sharing & sub-processors
We share personal data only with vetted sub-processors who help us run the service — cloud infrastructure, email delivery and error monitoring — each under a data-processing agreement. We publish the current list on request and give notice before adding a new one. We do not sell personal data.
7. Retention
Account data is kept for the life of your workspace and deleted within 90 days of closure, unless we must retain records for legal reasons. Operational telemetry is retained per your plan's retention window and any contractual terms; rollups may be kept longer in aggregate form. You can request earlier deletion for data we control.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. For data we hold as a processor on a customer's behalf, we will refer your request to that customer. To exercise any right, contact us below; we respond within 30 days.
9. Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, scope access to the minimum necessary, log administrative actions, and undergo independent security assessment. The edge collector uses outbound-only connections, so no inbound ports are exposed at your sites. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat operational data as critical infrastructure, because it is.
10. Contact
Questions, requests or concerns can go to our privacy team at privacy@voltwell.app. Our EU establishment is in Rotterdam; you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
